sexual immorality deliverance
DELIVERANCE FOR SEXUAL IMMORALITY
We recently released a podcast episode titled “SEX TALK” where we explored the topic of sex—specifically, the negative effects of engaging in sex outside of marriage and outside of God’s intended design for it: between a husband and wife.
In today’s society, even people who don’t know the Lord are starting to step away from sex altogether, saying things like, “It just doesn’t feel right anymore.” They may not fully understand why that is—but we do. The Bible gives us a clear understanding of how sex was meant to function, and how it wasn’t. When we choose to do things our way instead of God’s way, there will never be a truly positive outcome.
The world often paints God’s commands as random rules meant to control us, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. John 10:10 tells us that Jesus came to give us life—and life more abundantly. God’s Word wasn’t written to restrict us; it was written to lead us into the full and abundant life He always intended for us to live.
So does the Bible teach that we should wait to have sex until marriage? Absolutely. There are many reasons for this (which we cover in more detail in our latest episode), but one key truth is this: engaging in sex outside of marriage doesn’t just harm your body—it opens a door to the spiritual realm. And this applies to any form of sexual activity.
Sex is a sacred act. It’s a spiritual covenant designed by God to be shared exclusively between a husband and wife. When we misuse sex through sexual sin or immorality, we open ourselves up to demonic spirits and strongholds that can lead to perversion, soul ties, addiction, and more.
Sounds alarming, right? It is—but there’s hope. Jesus went to the cross to redeem us. Through His sacrifice, He bought our freedom. We can call on His name and the power of His perfect blood to deliver us and break every stronghold of the enemy.
If you’ve ever engaged in any form of sexual immorality—even just once—deliverance is essential.
You might be thinking, “Well, I haven’t had ‘actual’ sex, so I’m good… right?”
Not at all. The Bible says in Matthew 5:28,
“But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
The truth is, the moment you give in to lust is the moment you open the door for the enemy to enter your life—and that’s exactly why we wrote this post.
You may also need deliverance from emotional connections, often referred to as soul ties. These can keep you spiritually bound and prevent you from walking in the freedom that the Lord desires for you.
What is Sexual Immorality?
If you’ve participated in or experienced any of the following—premarital sex, extramarital sex, sexual assault, masturbation, incest, homosexuality, sexual molestation, or pornography—then deliverance is needed. We’re here to guide you through the steps of self-deliverance, so you can finally walk in the freedom you’ve been longing for.
Even if you were the victim of sexual assault—even though it was not your fault—deliverance is still necessary, because that violation was not just physical, it was spiritual. Your soul was attacked, and God wants to heal and restore every part of you.
Do you find yourself wanting to live a pure life, but constantly struggling to say no to temptation?
Or do you feel addicted to certain behaviors or emotional escapes, unable to control your thoughts or actions?
This is often the result of a demonic stronghold that has taken root—weakening your ability to resist temptation and causing you to fall into the same sin patterns over and over again. That cycle can leave you feeling discouraged and defeated.
But here’s the truth: it doesn’t have to stay that way.
Let’s finally get to the root and take care of it.
God doesn’t want you living a life of shame and condemnation. He loves you. He wants to rescue you from every struggle and stronghold. You don’t have to “clean yourself up” before coming to Him—come as you are, and He’ll do the cleaning.
He sees your pain. He sees your struggle. And He wants to save you.
Can Christians have demons? Yes.
Can Christians struggle with addiction? Absolutely.
If anything in this post resonates with you, deliverance is the key to breaking those chains and stepping into the freedom Jesus already purchased for you on the cross.
Before we dive into the actual process of self-deliverance, there are a few foundational steps you need to take first. These practical preparations are essential—and they help make the process effective and lasting.
True freedom and deliverance come from the Father—through the Holy Spirit.
To fully walk in deliverance, you must first repent, renounce your sin and flesh, ask for forgiveness, and submit to God by receiving the Holy Spirit and inviting Him into your heart.
No Holy Spirit = No freedom. No deliverance.
2 Corinthians 3:17
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
John 14:6
“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”

Once you’ve received salvation, repented of your sins, and welcomed the Holy Spirit into your life, the next step is water baptism.
Make it a priority to get baptized as soon as possible. You can continue walking through the deliverance process, but we want to put this on your radar early. Baptism is a crucial next step in your journey with Jesus.
Even though Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life, He still chose to be baptized—demonstrating the importance of obedience and public commitment.
(See Matthew 3:13–17 ESV)
Water baptism is a powerful act.
It symbolizes dying to your old life, your old ways, and your flesh—and being raised as a new creation, fully one with Christ. It’s a public declaration that you now follow Jesus and forsake all else.
Romans 6:4–7 (ESV)
“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father,
we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his,
we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing,
so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.For one who has died has been set free from sin.”
DELIVERANCE STEPS
We’re now going to walk you through the self-deliverance process and prayer.
🔒 Step 1: Get Alone with the Holy Spirit
Find a private place where you won’t be disturbed—your room, your car, outside, or even a closet. The key is to be completely alone with the Holy Spirit. This is a personal and sacred moment between you and God.
🙏 Prayer #1: Ask the Lord to Reveal Every Sexual Sin or Wound
The first prayer is about inviting the Lord to bring to your mind anything connected to sexual sin—trauma, encounters, addictions, or activities—anything you’ve been involved in or affected by.
This step is crucial. We don’t want to leave anything hidden or buried. We want to bring everything into the light so that healing and freedom can take place.
Even if you’ve experienced sexual assault—even though it wasn’t your fault—deliverance is still necessary. Why? Because you were attacked both physically and spiritually. God wants to heal you fully.
Pray this out loud:
Father, I have allowed sin to reign in my body and mind. I ask You to bring to my mind every sexual use of my body as an instrument of unrighteousness and sin, so that I can renounce these sexual sins and break the chains of all spirits attached to them. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
💔 Step 2: Release All Unforgiveness
Before going further, it is absolutely essential to remove all unforgiveness from your heart. Holding on to unforgiveness will block you from receiving full deliverance. It will keep you spiritually bound.
God takes unforgiveness seriously—because forgiveness is the very foundation of the Gospel.
How can we ask God to forgive us while we’re refusing to forgive others?
Matthew 6:14–15 (NIV)
“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
As the Holy Spirit brings people to mind—those who have hurt you, violated you, betrayed you, or abused you—write down their names.
You’ll need this list in the next step of the prayer process.
Father, reveal to me any unforgiveness that I am harboring. Bring to mind and show me all those I need to forgive and let go so that I can finally live the life of freedom you desire for me to live in Jesus name.
📝 Grab a Pen and Paper—And Prepare Your Heart
As the Lord begins to reveal things to you, grab a pen and paper and position your heart to receive. Find a quiet space, turn on worship music, and begin to write down the experiences, situations, or memories that come to mind.
These may include things you forgot about, buried, or never thought were connected. Trust the Holy Spirit—He is your Helper and your Guide.
In some cases, the Lord may continue to reveal things over time. When that happens, write them down so you can revisit this post and walk through the deliverance process again, as needed.

🙏 Deliverance Prayer
(Make sure to pray this out loud—every word matters.)
Even if you haven’t directly participated in one of these sins, someone in your generational bloodline may have. Or someone you’ve had sexual intercourse with might have. Because of this, you may still experience the consequences of that sin—as if it were your own.
Spiritual doors are real. And they can be opened not only by your own actions but also by the actions of those connected to you by blood or soul ties.
PRAYER
Holy Spirit, I invite You into this time and this prayer. Lead and guide me to freedom, in Jesus’ name.
Prayer for Unforgiveness:
(Use your list that you have written from the instructions above)
Lord, I confess my sin. I repent of all sexual sin in my life and turn away from it now. I thank You for Your forgiveness, Father. Lord, bring to mind any unforgiveness I have been holding onto that is keeping me from walking in the freedom You paid for on the cross. I forgive all who have hurt me, and I let them go. I forgive (insert name), and I let them go in Jesus’ name.
Father, I repent of every sexual sin that I have been involved in. I thank You that You are faithful and just to forgive those who repent. I renounce and revoke all sexual sin that I have been involved in in the past, including fornication, prostitution, masturbation, pornography, perversion, promiscuity, fantasy, lust, homosexuality, and adultery, in the mighty name of Yeshua. I take captive and revoke the license of every single vile, demonic, lustful, and perverse thought and spirit right now, in the name of Yeshua.
Lord, it is written in Psalm 34:17 that when “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles.” Deliver me from all my troubles, Lord!
I renounce everything that I have viewed, or someone in my line has viewed, through lust and pornography. Everything I have experienced through trauma, molestation, rape, prostitution, promiscuity, and perversion of all kinds—I now renounce it and take it captive in the name of Yeshua. I confess and renounce every form and spirit of sexual immorality in the name of Yeshua and by the power of the blood of the Lamb.
Lord, Your Word says in Matthew 16:19 (ESV): “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I bind and cast out every spirit of lust, adultery, fornication, homosexuality, prostitution, perversion, and uncleanness in my life. I surrender my body and mind to You as a living sacrifice, Father.
Let every demonic stronghold built in my life by the spirit of sexual perversion be crushed into pieces in the name of Yeshua. Every spirit of lust and perversion, I command you to go to the abyss in the name of Jesus. I break your power and command you to loose me and let me go. You have no legal access to me anymore. Go now in the name of Yeshua! You now have no power over me—I am fully submitted to the power of the Holy Spirit.
Galatians 5:1 (NIV) states, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
Lord, You have already purchased my freedom on the cross, and I receive my inheritance of peace and freedom in Jesus’ name. I declare that I am no longer a slave to sin, but a child of God!
I renounce and revoke the license of the spirits of Satan: Ishtar, Asherah, Baal, Jezebel, Ahab / Spirit of Prostitution, spirit of perversion, and spirit of delusion. And I command you all to go to the pit of hell in the name of Yeshua.
I command all spirits of lust and sexual perversion to come out now in the name of Yeshua.
Out of my stomach right now, in the name of Yeshua.
Come out of my eyes, right now, in the name of Yeshua.
Come out of my mouth, right now, in the name of Yeshua.
Come out of my hands, right now, in the name of Yeshua.
I break off every soul tie with every former sexual encounter, in the name of Jesus. I renounce the spirit of loneliness. I renounce the spirit of rejection. I cast out the spirit of loneliness and rejection, in the name of Yeshua.
I command all spirits of witchcraft that work with lust to leave now, in the name of Jesus. I command all spirits of generational lust and perversion from my ancestors to come out now, in the name of Jesus Christ. I break all generational curses of sexual immorality on my line, in Jesus’ name.
I take authority over my thoughts and bind all spirits of fantasy and lustful thinking, in the name of Jesus Christ. I cast out all marriage-breaking spirits of lust that break covenants, in the name of Jesus Christ.
Lord, let the fire of the Holy Spirit consume every lustful desire in me, in the mighty name of Yeshua. I release myself from every spiritual pollution from my past sin of fornication and sexual immorality—from myself and my line—in Jesus’ name.
Every demon and spirit of sexual perversion assigned to my life, be bound in the name of Yeshua.
Come out of my mind.
Come out of my appetite, in the name of Yeshua.
Lust out of my eyes—come out, in the name of Jesus.
Lust out of my hands—come out, in the name of Jesus.
I invite the Holy Spirit to seal shut any doors that I have opened through lust, pornography, or by watching pornography with someone else. I renounce the spirit of homosexuality in Jesus’ name. I command the spirit of homosexuality to come out of me, in Jesus’ name. I break the generational curse of homosexuality from my family line, in the mighty name of Jesus!
Holy Spirit, fill me with Your power and help me to resist every urge and temptation to lust, masturbate, and engage in pornography, in the name of Yeshua. I renounce every agreement I have made with demonic altars and idols concerning my sexual life, in the name of Jesus. Every altar and idol, be broken now in the name of Yeshua.
I reject every lie that I have believed that led me to sexual sin. I reject every suggestion and thought of impurity that the devil brings to mind, in the name of Jesus. I take captive every lie of the enemy that I have come into agreement with.
Satan, every stronghold you have tried to bring against me is now rendered helpless, powerless, and ineffective in my life from today, by the authority of my Lord Jesus Christ.
Satan, you are under my feet, and your power is broken in the name of Jesus.
Let the power of the Holy Spirit fill me. Holy Spirit, I give You every room in my house—cleanse it, fill it, and seal it off in the name of Jesus with Your Holy Spirit. Thank You, Lord, for Your freedom. Thank You for Your power.
Build my life to look more like the image of Your Son, in the name of Yeshua.
SOUL TIES
What is a soul tie?
A soul tie is a profound spiritual and emotional bond formed between two people, often as a result of deep intimacy—particularly through sexual intercourse. This connection goes beyond the physical and intertwines the souls of those involved, creating a lasting impact on both individuals. (Genesis 34:3, Genesis 2:24)
Soul ties aren’t limited to physical interactions; they can also form through deep emotional connections. When shared between a husband and wife, soul ties bring glory to God. Healthy soul ties also develop through friendships with fellow believers and, most importantly, in our relationship with the Lord. These kinds of connections are life-giving and reflect God’s design for unity and love.
We are discussing demonic soul ties—soul ties that hold you back from the future that God has for you.
These are soul ties that keep you from walking in freedom and enslave you emotionally, spiritually, or physically. These connections are weapons of the enemy, designed to prevent you from walking in the purpose and the beautiful life that God desires for you to live.
Remove anything that ties you to that individual—whether it’s photos, jewelry, letters, gifts, clothing, or any other personal items. Letting go of these things is part of breaking the emotional and spiritual connection, allowing you to move forward in freedom. This is important to ensure that your past relationship does not affect your future.
Refer back to your list of sexual experiences that you have encountered.
🙏 PRAYER
I renounce [name the sexual experience with (say the person’s name)]. I ask You to break the soul tie with [insert individual’s name] spiritually, physically, and emotionally. [Repeat for each experience & sexual encounter with each person.]
In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
I renounce every unhealthy and ungodly emotional, physical, sexual, mental, psychic, spiritual, professional, and relational bond that I have entered into by which I have become tied to another individual—including any friend, family member, lover, ex-lover, spouse, ex-spouse, prostitute, employer, mentor, pastor, or anyone else I have allowed myself to become attached to in a way that has resulted in my detriment.
I BREAK IT RIGHT NOW IN JESUS’ NAME!
I renounce all emotions, vows, promises, pledges, and formal or informal binding agreements that I uttered or entered into with the person to whom I was soul tied or with whom I was in a “one-flesh” relationship.
I break all curses associated with those relationships, in Jesus’ name!
If any soul-part of the person to whom I was bonded has been embedded in any part of my mind or emotions,
I ask the Holy Spirit to remove it—RIGHT NOW.
If any demons are attached to any transferred soul-part, I resist these evil spirits by the blood of Yeshua.
I send those parts back to the person from which they came.
This person no longer has any spiritual legal right to influence my life, in Jesus’ name.
I renounce and break all curses of shame, guilt, self-condemnation, harassment, stalking, or emotional torment and trauma related to this person, in the mighty name of Jesus.
Every door in every part of my being that was affected by this soul tie is now closed and sealed by the blood of Jesus.
Lord, please help me to establish new, healthy relationships that please You and bring You glory.
I now declare my unfailing allegiance to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
My Father is my God.
All of my future relationships will please and honor Him, in Jesus’ name.
DECLARATIONS: READ THIS OUT LOUD
I decree and declare that I am a child of God, and I refuse to be held captive by sexual sin, in the name of Jesus.

—Romans 12:2 (ESV), 1 Corinthians 2:16 (ESV)
I decree and declare that the blood of Jesus cleanses me from all unrighteousness, in the name of Yeshua.
—1 John 1:7 (ESV)
I declare that I am a new creation in Christ, and old things have passed away—including sexual immorality, in the mighty name of Jesus.
—2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)
I declare that I have self-control over my body and mind, through the mighty name of Yeshua.
—1 Corinthians 9:27 (ESV)
I decree and declare that my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.
—1 Corinthians 6:19 (ESV)
Now, go through your Instagram and social media accounts, and unfollow any pages or people that may tempt you or cause you to stumble. If it’s tempting you, it’s not worth following. Don’t use the excuse, “But I know them, and I don’t want them to think I’m rude.” If it’s leading you toward sin, then you’re distancing yourself from the one true Friend who matters most—God.
“Why resist temptation tomorrow when you can eliminate the temptation today” -Craig Groeschel
ACTION STEPS: CLEAN OUT
1 Corinthians 6:18 ESV “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.”
2 Timothy 2:22 “So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.”
Get rid of anything that has tempted you in the past or could cause you to stumble—whether it’s old phone numbers, subscriptions, websites, or photos. If you need help identifying what to remove, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal it to you—and He will—but it’s up to you to be obedient and remove what He instructs. Purpose in your heart not to give in to temptation, and commit to refusing thoughts that could lead to lustful thinking. You may even need to step away from social media for a season of consecration—giving yourself space to eliminate distractions and remove anything that hinders your spiritual growth.
Change Your Environment
Your environment shapes everything—who you spend time with and where you invest your energy. If you desire a transformed life, it begins with intentional changes in your daily actions and habits. To shift your mindset, you must first shift your perspective.
If you’re seeking change but not actively making decisions to align with the new life you say you want, then the truth is—you don’t want it badly enough. You will only experience freedom to the extent of your submission and obedience.
This will require making significant changes—like reevaluating where you go and who you choose to spend your time with. If you’re not willing to adjust these areas, you will stay stuck in the same sin cycles, never living a true life of freedom.
Be willing to say no.
Be willing to walk away.
Be willing to spend a season alone with just you and God.
The Bible is full of examples where individuals experienced a season of isolation with the Lord to hear His voice and grow closer to Him. We see this in Matthew 4:1–11 and Exodus 33.
If you can’t embrace solitude with God,
you will constantly find yourself compromising.True freedom and compromise cannot coexist.
FASTING
Matthew 17:21 (AMP):
“But this kind of demon does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
There are certain demons that can only be cast out by prayer and fasting.
To truly receive freedom from the strongman that is holding you captive, you must increase your spiritual authoritythrough fasting—then come back to this post to cast the demon out and break the power of the strongman over your life.
2 Corinthians 10:4 (NKJV):
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”
This verse reminds us that we have divine power to demolish strongholds.
But what is a stronghold? And what is the strongman?
The strongman is the ruling spirit who controls the stronghold—a place or territory under his influence.
He is the spirit behind your addiction… your submission to sin… your recurring struggles.
That’s why it’s crucial to break the strongman in order to experience lasting freedom.
But remember: the strongman can only be broken by prayer and fasting.
After your dedicated time of fasting and prayer, come back to this post and cast the strongman out by name.
WHERE TO START…
There are many types of fasts, and it’s important to ask the Holy Spirit which one He is leading you to.
Based on personal experience, we recommend starting with a 40-day fast from all secular content—
movies, music, YouTube, social media, or anything that isn’t Christ-centered. Cut it all out.
You will be amazed by the peace, clarity, and spiritual power that will come from this shift.
If you’re serious about taking your relationship with Christ to the next level—
and if you truly want to hear God’s voice and direction—
it starts by silencing the noise and removing the negative influences from your life.
Go cold turkey from all secular content for 40 days,
and watch how God transforms your mind and deepens your connection with Him.
Most of us don’t even realize how much secular media—shows, movies, and music—
opens the door to temptation, lust, anxiety, confusion, and spiritual attack.
Replace that content with the things of God:
Listen to worship, Christian R&B, or Christian rap
Watch Christian shows or films (there are some incredible options—just do a quick search)
Step away from social media for a while
Use that time to pray, read the Word, listen to sermons, and grow in your walk with the Lord
Treat these 40 days like a spiritual boot camp.
Let it be a season of purification and consecration that transforms your mind and life.
👉 You can find recommended resources, books, music, and sermons on our website to help guide you through it.
For all Christian music we like and recommend click here!
After completing the 40-day content fast, if you’d like to take your relationship with the Lord to the next level, consider choosing a food fast. This could be a Daniel fast, a liquids-only fast (broths, smoothies, coffee, water, tea—no sugar), or intermittent fasting (eating once a day within a specific time window).
You can choose to fast for 3 days, 7 days, 14 days, or even 40 days—whatever the Lord places on your heart!
TAKE IT CAPTIVE
Learn to take every thought captive. That means whenever a thought enters your mind that shouldn’t be there, immediately capture it. Don’t dwell on it—pray and ask the Lord to remove it, then redirect your focus and attention to something else.
2 Corinthians 10:5 ESV “We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ”
Just because you’ve been delivered doesn’t mean you won’t face temptation—you will. However, sin has lost its powerover you and no longer controls you. Now, the power is in your hands to say no, freeing you from being a slave to sin because you have claimed your authority in Jesus Christ.
Romans 6:14 (ESV)
“For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.”
1 Corinthians 10:13 (ESV)
“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability,
but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape,
that you may be able to endure it.”
PUT ON THE ARMOR OF GOD DAILY
This is how you protect yourself and fight—by turning to the only One who can shield you with His power, and that person is Jesus Christ.
Prayer, worship, and studying the Word of God are essential weapons in standing strong against the schemes of the enemy.
Ephesians 6:10-18 NIV
“10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
In your prayer time, cover yourself with warfare prayers such as:
“I cancel every assignment of the enemy over my life today in Jesus name.”
“I rebuke every attack of the enemy, and I command every foul spirit that is attempting to destroy me to go to the pit of hell in the name of Jesus”
“I plead the blood of Jesus Christ over my life today”
“Holy Spirit fill me, fill my mind, give me strength to make choices today that will please You and honor You Lord.”Prayer is essential for walking in power and authority and standing against the schemes of the enemy. It is only through prayer that you can connect with the Father and invite the Holy Spirit to work in your life.
Get into the Word of God—reading the Bible is essential for learning to recognize His voice.
How can you learn someone’s voice if you never take the time to sit and listen to them speak?
The key is not just to “read the Bible,” but to truly study the Word of God. That’s where real depth and understanding come—and I promise you, that’s when it gets really good.
If you feel like you don’t understand the Bible, that can change today!
The Bible is a supernatural book, and to truly understand it, you need the Holy Spirit to unlock the wisdom and secrets hidden within God’s Word.
The more you get to know God, the more He reveals to you.
Every time you prepare to read the Bible, ask the Holy Spirit to teach the Scripture to you.
If you don’t ask the Holy Spirit for understanding, you may miss what the Lord is trying to reveal and teach you through His Word.
John 14:26 NASB “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and remind you of all that I said to you.”
You can pray a prayer like this before you get into the Word: Holy Spirit, thank You for Your Word. Teach me and instruct me through Your scripture, and give me understanding and revelation in Jesus name. Guide me to what You want me to read, I want to learn from You Father. If you find it difficult or tiring to get into the Word daily when you first begin studying, that’s completely normal!
Reading the Bible starts as a discipline, but over time, it becomes a love and a habit.
Remember: the enemy doesn’t want you in the Word, so there will be spiritual warfare as you begin building this habit. There will be days when you don’t feel like reading—and that’s exactly when you need to press in even more.
The enemy knows that the more you grow in God’s Word and learn to hear His voice, the closer you’ll get to the Lord and the more you’ll walk in His power and authority—so he will try everything to stop you.
Stay persistent!
Put on the armor of God each and every day, and fight for your freedom and your relationship with God.
As you continue to read the Word, you’ll begin to fall in love with it.
The habit you’re building now will grow into a deep hunger and dependency on the Word of God.
But it all starts with cutting the excuses and hating your old life so much that you become desperate for a better one with Jesus.
Desperation turns into dependency.
Dependency turns into necessity.
Necessity turns into love.
After receiving deliverance, it’s crucial to put in the work to continue walking in your freedom.
Make the choice today to never go back to your old ways—and stay committed to your new path.
We are thrilled that you’ve taken this powerful step in your journey with Jesus!
